Maison de Naissance, “Home of Birth”, is the only source for comprehensive, professional, midwifery based maternal health services in an extremely impoverished region of southern Haiti with a population of approximately 69,000.
It is the only birth center in Haiti with permanent licensure from the Haitian Ministry of Health and Population, and almost 5,000 babies have been delivered at Maison de Naissance without a single maternal mortality. Services provided include prenatal care, deliveries, postnatal care, women’s reproductive health, family planning, Zika education, HIV/AIDs testing and education, well-baby care with vaccinations, and community health outreach.
Maison de Naissance operates 24 hours per, 7 days per week, year round, and has a 100% Haitian staff. Fees are on a sliding scale based on ability to pay, from zero to a maximum set by community consensus. It is located in Larnage Village, Torbeck Commune, SUD Department of Haiti, at GPS coordinates 18.197411, -73.826674.
